CSG Launches China's 1st Substation Plus Charging Station Site
The Lianhuashan Charging Station, China's first substation plus charging station site built by China Southern Power Grid Co, Ltd. (CSG) has been placed into operation.
Located in the Futian District, Shenzhen, the charging station is close to the 110 kV Lianhuashan Substation. This station spans an area of 3,192 square meters and CSG made a total investment of RMB 9.68 million.
The new facility has 9 * 60 kW DC fast charging spots and 41 * 42 kW AC fast charging spots, meeting the fast charging demand of more than 1,200 electric vehicles.
Building a charging infrastructure in the "substation plus charging station" mode makes full use of land resources, potential land opportunities and power supply capacity of the existing substations. The facility also reduces additional investment costs and risk to the company and its staff.
Compared with a simple "charging station" mode, this new facility meets customer demands for charging at different speeds. China Southern Power Grid future plans call for the construction of rooftop and underground charging facilities at substations.
