From September 1 to 2, the first CSG-KPX-TEPCO Summit hosted by CSG was held in Guangzhou. Wang Liangyou, Vice President of CSG, Hiroshi Yamaguchi, Executive Vice President of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc. (TEPCO), Yoo Sanghee, CEO of Korea Power Exchange (KPX) and other representatives of the three companies were present.
In his welcome speech, Wang reviewed the exchanges and cooperation among CSG, TEPCO and KPX, introduced CSG’s development as well as achievements in power gird reliability, safe operation, asset management and smart grid. He expressed his hope to make full use of the summit as a platform to further promote trilateral exchanges and communication, and experience sharing. He also expected that the three sides would leverage their respective advantages in the international market and seek cooperation opportunities with mutual benefits and win-win results.
Yoo Sanghee introduced Korea’s power development and mid-to-long-term strategy and planning, analyzed the opportunities and challenges his country’s power industry faced against the backdrop of current sluggish economy, development of new energy technologies and global carbon emission reduction. He hoped companies could draw upon the strength from each other and get further improvement through the summit. Hiroshi Yamaguchi appreciated the summit as a good opportunity for exchanges. He introduced TEPCO’s development in recent years, Japan’s electric power sector reform, latest development on liberalization of the electric power market, as well as his company’s vision and practice in smart grid construction.
At the summit the three sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding on High Level Communication Mechanism among CSG, KPX, and TEPCO, deciding to take turns to hold the summit regularly in the coming five years to brief about power development in respective country, exchange information, discuss development trend, solve problems in cooperation, and further expand exchanges and cooperation.
During the summit, delegates of the three companies made technical exchanges and presentations on topics including storage and smart grid development, EHV transmission technologies, greater productivity, reform of the electric power market, power demand side response and renewable energy development plan. After that they visited CSG’s Dispatching Control Center and the 110 kV 3C Green Peak Converter Station of Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau.
