SHU Yinbiao Attends IEC Market Strategy Bureau Meeting and Visits DKE and VDE

From January 14th to 16th, SHU Yinbiao, President of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Chairman of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., and Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering attended the 15th IEC Market Strategy Bureau meeting, and visited Deutsche Kommssion Elektrotechnik (DKE) and Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE) in Germany.

On January 14th, SHU Yinbiao attended the symposiums on Overview of Semantic Interoperability White Paper and Regulatory and Standards, and interacted with participants. On January 15th, he moderated IEC/MSB meeting, successively listened to introductions of market development direction, global hotspot issues, white paper on future security and other areas, and reports of work progress from Central Office, Standard Management Bureau, and Conformity Assessment Bureau, and organized discussions.

On January 16th, SHU Yinbiao went to Frankfurt, and met successively with DKE CEO Michael Teigeler and VDE CEO Ansgar Hinz, and exchanged views in such fields as IEC governance, standard digitization, test and assessment in new energy.

SHU Yinbiao noted President XI Jinping’s congratulatory letter to the 83rd IEC General Meeting is a high-standard summary and new annotation of works in standardization. XI Jinping points out, green, low-carbon, and circular development is humanity’s common goal. The development with deep integration of new technology, for instances, artificial intelligence, big data, and 5G, with new energy power generation and electric vehicles needs urgently the formulation and application of relevant international standards, and enhanced international cooperation in standards. SHU Yinbiao emphasized, standard, as the world’s ‘common language’, is an important technological foundation for international cooperation and innovative development. China will open its opening-up door even wider, and is willing to share experiences in electro-technics with German counterparts to drive technological progress and standard setting together.

Michael Teigeler and Ansgar Hinz, respectively, expressed their warm welcome to SHU Yinbiao, congratulated on the successful 83rd IEC General Meeting, and thanked China’s warm hospitality. They said that President XI Jinping’s congratulatory letter is very encouraging. The German side will fully support IEC President’s work, make contributions to the establishment of IEC governance working team, the improvement of IEC financial status, and the enhancement of openness and transparency of IEC management, and continue works in standard setting and conformity assessment with IEC and China, with strengthened cooperation especially in areas as new energy assessment, test certification, and personnel training, jointly promote the green and healthy development of energy in the world.

IEC/MSB is in charge of major technological trajectory and market demands in all sectors. It makes timely strategies according to the market situations, elevating IEC’s response to innovation and fast-evolving market demands.

DKE is an authority which takes charge of standard setting for electronic, electric and telecommunication technologies. Acting as Germen national committee, it participates in activities of IEC, CENELEC, and ETSI European Institute for Telecommunications Standards.

VDE is a renowned certification institute both in Europe and around the globe. It is also a product testing laboratory and technology research center in Germany, directly engaging in Germany’s national standards’ formulation.
