SHU Yinbiao Met With Sir Jim McDonald, Principal of University of Strathclyde

On June 16th, SHU Yinbiao, Chairman of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd, met with Sir Jim McDonald, Principal of University of Strathclyde via video link. The two sides exchanged views in carrying out practical cooperation to lead decarbonization, digitalization and renewable energy development.
SHU Yinbiao congratulated the University of Strathclyde on its achievements in recent years, and briefly updated the latest development of Huaneng in green transition, and technological innovation etc. SHU Yinbiao said, under the guidance of China’s "carbon peak, and carbon neutrality" target, Huaneng is dedicated to energy transition, vigorously develops renewable energy, actively develops hydropower, and develops nuclear power in an orderly manner, with decarbonization, electrification, digitalization, and standardization as the main pathway. He said, to realize the "carbon peak, carbon neutrality" target, technological innovation is an important bolster. Huaneng adheres to innovation with an open mind, and is willing to cooperate with the University of Strathclyde to share experiences, and carry out technological innovation, project demonstration in green and low-carbon field, and to conduct talent training in international standardization. He hopes that the two sides can fully exert respective advantages, centering around the practical needs of international frontiers and energy low carbon transition, boost the integration of industry, academy and application, jointly elevate innovation level of critical technology of global energy, facilitate global energy transition, and make greater contributions to propel "carbon peak, carbon neutrality".
Sir Jim McDonald congratulated Huaneng on its achievement in energy transition, digitized development, and technological innovation, etc.. He said, the University of Strathclyde has strong capability in basic research and engineering application of off-shore wind power, nuclear power, smart grid, and micro grid etc. He hopes that the two sides can strengthen communications and exchanges, discuss cooperation areas, drive practical cooperation, explore multiple party cooperation among UK’s Royal Academy of Engineering, Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, and Chinese Universities, so as to exert complementary advantages, and facilitate the realization of "carbon peak, carbon neutrality" together.
