1. Huaneng projects realized full coverage of 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China

At the beginning of 2017, Huaneng Renewables Corporation Limited put the first batch of 8 wind turbines into operation at Jinziling Wind Farm in Fuchuan, Guangxi, marking that China Huaneng Group realized the breakthrough of power project development in Guangxi for the first time, and that Huaneng power projects had fully covered 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions throughout the country. Located in the northeast of Guangxi and between Dupangling and Mengzhuling at the junction of Hunan, Guangxi and Guangdong provinces, Jinziling Wind Farm has a total planned installed capacity of 200MW and is comprised of three wind farms: Jinziling, Wenzhangling and Dengjiaba. After the wind farms are put into operation, the annual electricity generation output is estimated to be 527GWh, which can save 178,600 tons of standard coal and reduce the emission of CO2 by about 327,000 tons every year.

2. Huaneng’s three achievements won the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology

On January 9, 2017, the National Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and presented national awards for science and technology for 2016. Three achievements of China Huaneng Group were awarded the second prize for national scientific and technological progress, including Key Technology and Engineering Application of 250MW Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle Power Generation, Control and Protection Technology, Equipment and Application of Sub-synchronous Resonance / Oscillation for Large Steam Turbine Generator Units, and Research and Practice on Key Technology for Structural Safety of High Concrete Dams.

3. Nuozhadu Rockfill Dam Project was awarded "International Milestone Project Award"

At the Fourth International Symposium on Rockfill Dams held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil on May 17, 2017, Nuozhadu Hydropower Station Rockfill Dam Project of Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Inc. was awarded "International Milestone Project Award". The maximum height of Nuozhadu Hydropower Station Rockfill Dam is 261.5m, ranking first in China and third in the world among existing earth-rock dams. The scale of open spillway ranks first in Asia, with large discharge flow and flood discharge power, ranking first among spillways on bank in the world. The project tackled key problems such as seepage stability, deformation stability, dam slope stability, seismic safety and construction quality control of ultra-high core rockfill dams under the condition of "high head, large volume and large deformation". During construction, the complete damming technology using artificial crushed stone mixed with gravel and soft rock rockfill material and the complete design criteria of ultra-high core rockfill dams were proposed and adopted systematically, the hydrostatic constitutive model of dam materials and the calculation and analysis method of hydraulic fracture and crack were improved, and a comprehensive evaluation system for dam safety was established. In addition, the company took the lead in developing the real-time monitoring system for construction quality featuring “digital dam” and introducing new methods for construction quality control of rock-earth dams to lead the development of high rockfill dams, thus making great contribution to the development of rockfill dam technology in the world.

4. Huaneng Sahiwal Power Station in Pakistan was completed and put into operation

On July 3, 2017, the completion ceremony of Huaneng Sahiwal Coal-fired Power Station was held in Sahiwal, Punjab, Pakistan, marking that the first major energy project within the framework of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and one of the largest coal-fired power stations invested and constructed by Chinese enterprises overseas was completed and put into operation.

Consisting of two 660MW supercritical coal-fired generating units, Sahiwal Power Station is a "priority" project in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the first large-scale overseas high-efficiency clean coal power project of Huaneng in response to the “Belt and Road” initiative. The project started construction in July 2015, and the two units completed 168-hour full load trial operation on May 24 and June 8, 2017 respectively, and were put into operation 200 days ahead of the contract schedule. During construction, the company vigorously promoted energy conservation and emission reduction, and developed cutting-edge power generation technologies, which led to environmental protection indexes such as desulphurization and dust removal far better than the national emission standards of Pakistan. The safe, high-quality and efficient construction of the power station has created a miracle in the history of power construction in Pakistan.

As a green and environmentally-friendly coal-fired power station, Sahiwal Power Station will generate more than 9000GWh of electricity annually, which is expected to meet the power demand of 10 million local people and fill a quarter of Pakistan's power gap.

5. Huaneng nominated and commended nine “Huaneng Role Models”

On September 22, 2017, China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. held the Nomination & the First Report Conference on Meritorious Deeds of "Huaneng Role Models", during which the company called on all employees to conscientiously study the meritorious deeds of "Huaneng Role Models", carry forward Huaneng corporate culture, perform the three-color corporate mission, and transform the virtuous power of role models into actual practice, so as to make greater contribution to building a world-class enterprise.

According to the nomination result, nine people (collectively) were honored as “Huaneng Role Models”, including Wang Xiaojiang, Deputy Chief Engineer of Huaneng Gyaca Hydropower Construction Branch, Na Hongyu, Deputy Director of Maintenance Center of Huaneng Renewables Corporation Liaoning Branch, Xiao Ruihuai, Specialist in Operation and Maintenance Department of Manwan Power Plant of Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Inc., Zhang Zhijian, Leader of Maintenance Crew of First Mining Team at Chenjiagou Coal Mine of Huaneng Coal Company, Chen Yan, Shift Supervisor of Operation Department of Huaneng Suzhou CHP Plant, Zheng Guijie, Specialist Engineer of Maintenance Department of Dalate Power Plant of North United Power Co., Ltd., Tangce Technological Innovation Studio of Yingkou Thermal Power Plant (collectively), Hu Jing, Vice General Manager of Southwest Business Department of Huaneng Guicheng Trust, and Engineering Department of Huaneng Pakistan Sahiwal Power Station.

6. Huaneng built the largest offshore wind farm in Asia

At 22:25 of September 30, 2017, China Huaneng Group Jiangsu Rudong Baxianjiao Offshore Wind Farm Project successfully completed 240-hour trial operation and was fully put into commercial operation. This is Huaneng's first offshore wind farm project and also the offshore wind power project with the largest installed capacity in Asia so far. Rudong Baxianjiao Offshore Wind Farm Project is located in Rudong sea area of Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, with total installed capacity of 300MW and a total of 70 wind turbines, including 4MW, 4.2MW and 5MW wind turbines, of which, 5MW offshore wind turbine is used in batch for the first time in China. The project employed the mode of "large isolated island" creatively, and two 110kV offshore booster substations were built to ensure the yawing, anti-corrosion and communication functions of wind turbine generators under special conditions. After the project is put into operation, the average annual feed-in electricity generation is estimated to be about 820GWh, with significant environmental benefits.

7. Huaneng set off a wave of studying, publicizing and implementing the guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress

Taking studying, publicizing and implementing the guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress as the primary political task, China Huaneng Group focuses on organization and promotion, and implements in every detail, setting off a wave of studying, publicizing and implementing the guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress throughout the company.

On October 25, as soon as the 19th CPC National Congress concluded, Cao Peixi, Secretary of Party Leading Group and Chairman of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. presided over a Party Leading Group meeting to convey the guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress, and raised requirements for the Company to study and implement the guidance. The meeting called for raising political standing, strengthening organizational leadership, and taking it as the primary political task of Huaneng at present and in the coming period to comprehensively study and implement the guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress. After the meeting, a wave of studying, publicizing, and implementing the guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress was quickly set off.

On October 27, China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. held an (enlarged) meeting of the Party Leading Group Central Group, to thoroughly convey the guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress. The meeting required that the Company should formulate a work plan as soon as possible and promote the overall progress of study, publicizing and implementation program by means of seminars, colloquiums and lecture tours in the early stage.

On November 6 and 7, China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. successively held study sessions of the Party Leading Group and the Party Leading Group Central Group, to study the Decision of the CPC Central Committee on Conscientiously Studying, Publicizing and Implementing the Guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress, to carry out the requirements of the SASAC Party Committee on studying, publicizing and implementation of the guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress, and to formulate the Notice on Conscientiously Studying, Publicizing and Implementing the Guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress and the Work Plan for Conscientiously Studying, Publicizing and Implementing the Guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress, for the purpose of fully mobilizing and promoting the Company in studying, publicizing and implementing the guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress.

8. China Huaneng Group Hong Kong Ltd. issued US$500 million perpetual bonds

On October 30, 2017, China Huaneng Group Hong Kong Ltd. successfully completed the issuance of US$500 million senior perpetual bonds through its wholly-owned subsidiary Huaneng Hong Kong Capital Corporation. This is the first time that Huaneng publicly issues US dollar perpetual bonds overseas, which lays a good foundation for the internationalization of Huaneng, optimization of capital structure, broadening of financing channels and reduction of financing costs. This issuance of bonds is not redeemable for the first five years, and the coupon rate in the first five years is 3.6%. China Huaneng Group will provide credit support such as keepwell agreement and so on. In the final allocation result, Asian investors accounted for 88% of the total investors, and European investors accounted for 12%, with extensive regional distribution of investors. In terms of investor type, the transaction is well-distributed, with 74% of orders from high-quality asset management companies, 10% from sovereign wealth funds and 9% from insurance companies.

9. The first unit of Cambodia’s largest hydropower project - Huaneng Lower Se-San River II Hydropower Station started power generation

At 9 am on December 9, 2017 (local time), the first unit of the longest dam in Asia and the largest hydropower project in Cambodia --- Huaneng Lower Se-San River II Hydropower Station successfully completed 72-hour trial operation and was formally put into operation.

Located on the main stream of Se-San River in Stung Treng Province in the northeast of Cambodia, Huaneng Lower Se-San River II Hydropower Station has a dam of 6.5km long and has a total planned installed capacity of 400MW, which accounts for more than 1/5 of the national total. The power station employs eight 50MW bulb tubular units made in China, whose rated head and unit capacity are at the forefront of the world among similar units. As an important project in Cambodia’s energy construction, the project is another achievement of the Belt and Road Initiative and a “window project” of Huaneng’s hydropower development in Southeast Asia. The construction and operation mode of the power station will become a model for China-Cambodia energy cooperation.

10. Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Inc. was officially listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange

The issuing price of Huaneng Hydropower was RMB 2.17/share. A total of 1.8 billion new shares were issued, accounting for 10% of the total share capital and with a total amount of RMB 3.906 billion, which set a record of the maximum issuing scale and the highest lot winning rate for investors for listed enterprises since 2016. Based on Yunnan's regional advantages and the company's technical and economic advantages, Huaneng Hydropower continues to innovate in the foreign investment mode, steadily promotes the development of hydropower resources in Southeast Asia, and becomes the backbone enterprise and investment model in energy field of the “Belt and Road” Initiative. Shweli River I Hydropower Station in Myanmar is China’s first overseas hydropower BOT project, and Huaneng Lower Se-San River II Hydropower Station in Cambodia is the largest hydropower station in Cambodia.
