Wen Shugang attends series of events the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and Holds Talks with Leaders from Vietnam and Indonesia

On April 26, the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation opened in Beijing and Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. China Huadian Board of Directors Wen Shugang attended the ceremony and listened to President Xi’s important remarks on site.

Focusing on the forum’s theme of “Belt and Road Cooperation: Shaping a Brighter Shared Future”, China Huadian actively participated in this grand gathering, and promoted the BRI to achieve high-quality development with tangible actions including reaching cooperation agreement with partners. On morning of April 25, Wen Shugang attended the forum’s CEO conference and witnessed signing ceremony of Huadian’s power project in Indonesia. During his interview by CCTV prior to conference, Wen Shugang said that, in the last 6 years, under the guidance of Belt and Road initiative proposed by President Xi, China’s power and energy project has been “going abroad” at a faster pace and that “connectivity of power, connectivity between people, connectivity of hearts of peoples from different countries” has boosted g deep cooperation between countries and enterprises and has also built a bridge of friendship and cooperation. China Huadian is now actively building an energy system featuring “cleanness, low-carbon, safety, high efficiency”, vigorously developing non-fossil energies and has installed clean energies accounting for 40% of its total installed capacities. In the future, China Huadian will focus more on developing clean energies including hydropower, wind power and solar power in overseas markets to help local economy and society achieve high quality development.

On the afternoon and evening of April 25, Wen Shugang had talks Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam and Vice President Jusuf Kalla of Indonesia respectively, exchanging views on jointly building Belt and Road and strengthening cooperation in power and energy sector.

When meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam, Wen Shugang briefly introduced CHD’s latest achievements and expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s great support to China Huadian’s development in Vietnam. He said that the cooperation project demonstrates that two sides are jointly building Belt and Road initiative and a community with a shared future for mankind and is in line with the principle of “mutual consultation, jointly building for sharing benefits”. Wen Shugang believed that this project is an opportunity which will open a new chapter for great achievements. China Huadian will actively respond to relevant practices by the two countries for aligning the Belt and Road initiative and Vietnam’s “Two Corridors and One Economic Circle” and will go to Vietnam for large project cooperation and strengthen connectivity to contribute to common development of sharing benefits of the two countries. Nguyen Xuan Phuc appraised China Huadian’s active investment in Vietnam’s power construction and hoped that China Huadian will leverage edges of advanced, clean and environmental-friendly technology. China Huadian should build the cooperation project in Vietnam as a model of high quality and sustainability and should contribute to improving Vietnamese national economic growth and people’s livelihoods. China Huadian Vice President Yu Bing also attended the meeting.

During his meeting with Vice President Jusuf Kalla of Indonesia, Wen Shugang introduced China Huadian’s latest progress and development outline over mid to long run. He noted that China Huadian holds in high regards investment and cooperation in Indonesia and that this project agreement is an important practice for strengthening communication and collaboration in power section. He added that China Huadian enjoys advantages in technology, talents and management and that the two sides should find more opportunities for cooperation in extensive areas to boost the Belt and Road while effectively promote Indonesian economic and social development. Vice President Jusuf Kalla highlighted that economic development in Indonesia can not be achieved without growing power infrastructure and that he is pleased to witness progress of the power project in cooperation with China Huadian. China Huadian has strong competence and is a good friend and partner with Indonesia. Successful progress of this project also demonstrates the sound partnership between two countries. He looked forward to seeing China Huadian step up development in Indonesia and extend cooperation to more extensive areas for mutual benefits and win-win results.

During the forum, Wen Shugang also met with Dr. Schwab with World Economic Forum, sharing in-depth ideas on topics such as global economic development trend, clean and low-carbon development. World Economic Forum is also called as “ Davos Forum”, founded by professor Klaus Schwab of Geneva University.

Heads of departments of China Huadian group company, China Huadian Engineering Co., Ltd.,and China Huadian Hongkong Company also attended above-mentioned events.
