The National Development and Reform Commission recently officially approved China Huadian’s Batang Hyropower Station on the upstream of Jinsha River.
As a part of the state’s “power transmission from the west to the east of China” strategy, this hydropower station is of significant importance and will greatly help the work of poverty alleviation in Tibet area.
This station is the ninth one on the Jinsha Rive upstream and will have a nameplate capacity of 750 MW and generate 3.393 billion kWh every year. It is designed to commission its first unit by end of 2022 and will save coal up to 1.05 million tons and cut CO2 emissions by 3.15 tons.
