Wang Xiangxi Attends the "Belt and Road" Clean Energy Development Forum

The "Belt and Road" Clean Energy Development Forum, themed on "Energy Revolution, Clean Demonstration, Joint Construction and Shared Benefits, and Special District with Green Power," kicked off on September 29 in Xining, capital of northwestern China's Qinghai Province. Chamba Phuntsok, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People’s Congress, attended the event. Wang Jianjun, secretary of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee, addressed the forum which was presided over by Li Jiexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of Qinghai. Xin Changxing, deputy secretary of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee and governor of Qinghai, delivered a keynote speech. Wang Xiangxi, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and chairman of China Energy, attended the event and delivered a speech entitled “New Energy Security Strategy Guides Clean, Low-Carbon Development.”

In his speech, Wang expounded on China Energy’s exploration and practice in the development of clean energy. He pointed out that as a centrally administered energy enterprise integrating coal, power, chemical industry and transportation, China Energy has adhered to the new energy security strategy, taken active measures to cope with climate change, and earnestly fulfilled its due responsibilities. It has vigorously promoted large-scale utilization of clean energy, enhanced the quality and efficiency of clean energy development, renovated development modes of clean energy, fostered new industries for emerging energy development, and accelerated energy restructuring and optimization. It has also taken action to promote clean utilization of fossil energy, construct safe, efficient, green and intelligent mines, develop clean, high-efficiency coal-fired power generation units, expand the high-end, refined CTL chemical industry, and guarantee safe, stable energy supply. Moreover, it is committed to promoting intelligent development of the energy industry by strengthening the building of a new technological innovation system, research of key and core technologies and construction of intelligent enterprises, and promoting in-depth integration between the industrial chain and the innovation chain. China Energy is also dedicated to promoting internationalized resource allocation, facilitating China’s energy industrial chain to go global, and cooperating with international partners to promote the common development of new energy, forming a new development pattern featuring domestic and international dual circulation. At present, China Energy ranks first around the world in terms of wind power installation capacity, and has completed a number of world-class landmark projects in fields like green mining, green power generation, green chemical industry, green transportation and hydrogen energy. It is carrying forward the construction of an intelligent energy system integrating wind power, photovoltaic energy, coal-fired power, hydrogen energy, and energy restoration on its road toward a world-class energy group with global competitiveness.

Wang noted that in recent years, thanks to the strong support from the Party provincial committee and provincial government of Qinghai, China Energy has maintained a generally steady development in the province. Meanwhile, China Energy has taken active measures to help Qinghai’s poverty alleviation and environmental protection. It provided funds to help lift Gangca and Qumarleb counties out of poverty. Next, following President Xi Jinping’s important instructions on the development of Qinghai Province, it will align with the province’s development plan for the 14th Five-Year Period (2021-2025) and take an active part in the development of clean energy, hydrogen energy, energy storage, ecological conservation, and other areas while focusing on major projects and consolidating achievements in poverty reduction, so as to make greater contributions to high-quality economic and social development of Qinghai.
