The Four Cascade Hydropower Stations on the Main Streams of the Yangtze River Have Generated over 100 Billion KWh of Electricity in 2018

As of July 21, the four cascade hydropower stations on the main streams of the Yangtze River (the Three Gorges Project, Gezhouba, Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba hydropower stations) collectively generated over 100 billion kWh of electricity this year.

During the flood season, the No.1 and No.2 Floods arrived at the Three Gorges reservoir, the latter in particular recording a peak of 60,000 m3/s. In response, the Three Gorges Reservoir held back 2.01 billion cubic meters of potential floodwater during the No.1 Flood and 6.275 billion during the No.2 Flood, and the Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba reservoirs stored another 1.635 billion, effectively mitigating midstream and downstream flooding.
