Baihetan hydropower station, owned and operated by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), completed the installation of the runner for the station’s No.2 hydraulic generator on the left bank on the morning of September 9, the third 1-GW hydraulic generator to have its core component installed since the installation of the first one was completed on June 21.
The station will have a total installed capacity of 16 GW once eight 1-GW proprietary hydraulic generators are installed on the left and right banks respectively.
The runner of the No. 2 power unit on the left bank is composed of acrown, a lower ring and 15 blades. It has a maximum outer diameter of 8.62 meters, a height of 3.92 meters, and a weight of 346.5 tons.
