The total cargo volume passing through the Xiangjiaba Shiplift since its operation hit 1 million tons mark on December 18, according to its operator China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG).
The shiplift, which started operations on May 26, 2018, has operated in 2,904 loads with 2,924 ships passed in the period.
Xiangjiaba shiplift has allowed the Jinsha River to play to full potential its role as the “Golden Waterway”, ushering in a new era.
The Xiangjiaba shiplift adopts a fully balanced type of rack and pinion vertical lift system with a maximum lift height of 114.2m. It is currently the world’s highest single-stage shiplift in service, featuring high safety, reliability, stability and efficiency.
